Step into the hidden world of whisky smuggling in the Angus Glens with local historian and storyteller Ally Heather, whose captivating tours bring Scotland’s illicit whisky past to life.
Beginning at the distillery, guests will set out into what was once known as the Secret Glen; a remote landscape where smugglers hid their stills deep in the hills and moved spirit quietly through the glens. As you walk through this dramatic setting, Ally will reveal the hidden stories of illicit distilling and the ingenious ways whisky was produced and transported long before legal distilleries existed.
Returning to the distillery, guests will enjoy a guided distillery tour, discovering how our Highland Single Malt spirit is crafted today, a modern continuation of a long and colourful history.
As the afternoon draws in, gather around the fire for a specially curated whisky tasting flight, accompanied by a chef-prepared OFYR fireside feast celebrating the simple flavours of Highland cooking, perfectly paired with the whisky.
Together we’ll uncover the secrets o’ the glen - from the illicit spirit of the past to the whisky we produce today.
